Young people are that kind of society group which is the most directly confronted with consequences of their own decisions. Because their society status and future is defined by those decisions it is important that decisions made are prudent. With all the changes, labour market is not in the favour of young people at the moment. The problem that is addressed in this thesis is involvement of young people in organizational processes through various organizations, among them trade unions. Participation strengthens collectiveness and solidarity, which creates a prerequisite for improving the position of young people. Higher level of collectiveness is needed to reach better policies for young people. Aim of this thesis is to identify the causes that have influence on low level of participation of young people in trade unions. Information about levels of participation in trade unions was obtained through semi-structured in-depth interviews with two groups of people - active and inactive in social life and organizations. The key finding of this task is, according to information obtained through interviews, that young people are characterized by the circumstances in which they are located, and these circumstances determine whether they will be willing to participate and merge or not.
