In November 2017, the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia adopted a new Spatial Planning Act (ZUreP-2, 2017) which entered into force in the middle of 2018. This is the fourth law adopted for the purposes of spatial planning after Slovenia’s declaration of independence. In the first section of the graduation thesis we have reviewed the spatial planning system according to the current spatial planning acts. In the second section, we analysed and evaluated changes in the procedures for the preparation and adoption of the spatial planning documents. In the last section we analysed the role of participles in the process of preparation of a spatial planning documents. All analyses and evaluations refer to the four laws: Spatial Management Act (ZUreP-1, 2002), Spatial Planning Act (ZPNačrt, 2007), Siting of Spatial Arrangements of National Importance Act (ZUPUDPP, 2010) and Spatial Management Act (ZUreP-2, 2017). We prepared comparisons and analyses in the thesis for the spatial planning documents at the national and local levels in order to verify the procedures for the preparation and adoption of spatial planning documents. We also compared the participles involved in the preparation and adoption of spatial planning documents and how their importance is strengthened.
