The mythical story of Medea, portrayed by Greek playwright Euripides and Roman playwright Seneca in their tragedies also inspired Slovenian author Dane Zajc. By virtue of typical features of the dramaturgical periods and depicted playwrights, the diploma thesis begins with comparison between ancient Greek and Roman tragedies, followed by their portrayal in resemblance to newer Slovenian version of Medea. Starting with the ancient Greek legend of Argonauts, the comparison begins by focusing on the form and style characteristics of the three plays. It proceeds with the dramas' key motives, which motivate main characters in their actions, especially the ditched witch Medea to murder her two children.
