The relation between ballet and literature is being discussed in this work. This relation has changed through the history, from a dance beeing a part of literature, to dance which does not tell a story. In the time of the 19th century, the classical relation between literature and ballet mantaines. The literature becomes the carrier of the action. It enters the performance through the libretto and in the manner of adaptation. Librettist choses some story and rerranges it for the stage. Through this procedure, changes can happen. In this century special narration model mantaines. As an example of adaptation we will look at ballet preformance Jevgenij Onjegin, which is original Slovenian performance. It was first perfomed in the SNG Maribor. The director was Valentina Turcu. She also set the choreograpy and music concept. This preformance includes some elements of the classical narration model but it also abanodns some of them. Because of this we can say that this is neoslassical style.
