The subject of the undergraduate thesis are the epic of author Vlado Žabot, titled Holy wedding, and Slavic mythology. The intention of this work is to shed light on the relationship between a belletristic creation and Proto-Slavic myth. Considering that myth is unavailable in its original form, it is necessary to use its reconstruction, as proposed in academic literature. Since reconstructions differ, it is necessary to use the one that fits the literary text. Mythical elements in the epic are studied according to their importance: special consideration is given to Proto-Slavic deities Jurij, Marica, Perun, Veles and Mokoš, analyzed in separate chapters. The thesis closes with reflection on the mythical and ritual nature of Žabot's epic and parallels that can be drawn between his work and other, namely Avestan and Christian concepts.
