Undergraduate thesis deals with the novel Prebujenje (1943), written by a Slovenian writer Zorko Simčič (1921). The author of the thesis is interested in analysis and interpretation of the novel, the question of the role in the Slovenian wartime literature and the question of reception among reviewers and literary historians. Prebujenje is a bourgeois psychological novel, which occurs as a reaction to the then prevailing rural narrative prose. The protagonist of the novel is Dušan Biljanski, who writes humoresques and feuilletons and wants to write a majestic literary work. His best friends are Jože - he represents the rural environment - and Milan, a dreamy, poetic soul. The main reason, which encouraged Zorko Simčič to write the novel Prebujenje, was Finžgar's literary prize. Although the novel has not received the first prize, Nova založba decided to publish it. The novel has received the Prešeren Award of the city of Ljubljana and has been in general positively accepted.
