In this degree paper I was engaged in researching the manipulation of living organisms in painting. In order to define the concept of living painting, I devoted to concepts such as conceptual art, BioArt, environmental art, TransArt and intermedia art. I have also focused on a few artists who fall into the various aforementioned styles and have inspired me in reasearch and creation. As reference I chose Maja Smrekar, Anja Jerčič Jakob, Roberto Cuoghi and Alan Sonfist, because I can identify with their work in different aspects. In addition to the general description of the artists, I also highlighted one or two of their work, which can be more concretely linked through my own artistic creation. I created eight living paintings in the course of the task, documenting them with photographs and the process of last painting I documented with video. The second part of the task describes the procedures that I used to create living paintings.
