The master's thesis offers an overview and comparison of awards, competitions and education for playwrights in Slovenia and Croatia. It presents a short overview of the theory of dramatic text, and the analysis of the most awarded Slovene and Croatian female playwrights based on the relationship between content and form. The analysed playwrights are: Draga Potočnjak, Simona Semenič, Žanina Mirčevska, Simona Hamer and Lada Kaštelan, Tena Štivićić, Nina Mitrović and Ivan Sajko. The analysis includes the authors' biographies, an overview of their dramatic opus and a mention of the major awards and performances, analyses of high-quality texts, and analyses of the performances that I have seen live. In addition, the thesis highlights the specifics and common characteristics of the status of dramatic texts, of female playwrights' work, and of the thematic orientation and staging trends within specific socials environments.
