Introduction: The business plan is one of the main documents when founding a private dental laboratory. Based on market and competition research and a business result simulation we can make short- and long-term decisions to put in effect as we start offering a service. A business plan is a helpful tool that lets us determine whether a business idea will have been worth realising or not. Purpose: the purpose of this diploma work is to present the process of founding a private dental laboratory and to make a projection of the initial business activity using a business plan. Methodes used: the methods used making this diploma were thorough scienetific literature research, financial projections calculation and analysis, and the making of a metal base cast, including photographing and documenting the making process itself. Results: this diploma work presents a financial plan and success-rate estimation, based on a time-frame plan and product sales projection. The business success rate is expectedly worse in the first two years of offering the service and stabilises in the third year, when the amount of work and services provided increases. Commentary and conclusion: a business plan is a written document dealing with the first three to five years of a business activity. Since it is difficult to anticipate product sales in advance, a newly established private dental laboratory needs to concentrate on providing a quality service that might give it the edge over the existing competition. This diploma work also drew the conclusion that Slovenia and Macedonia have similar legal regulations when opening a private dental laboratory.
