The master's thesis deals with the connection between the poet and art critic Jacques Dupin and the sculptor and painter Alberto Giacometti. The artists were acquainted and kept friendly relations. The main goal of this thesis is to explain certain similarities in their understanding of a work of art and reflection on the medium of art, but these parallels are not necessarily the result of their mutual influence. The thesis is based on the following works: Dupin's monograph Giacometti, the books of poetry L'embrasure and Gravir, Giacometti's sculptures and his diaries. The first part provides basic information about the life and work of both artists, while the second part is dedicated to the principal parallels which can be found in their opera.
