A Bachelor’s thesis is carried out in the form of a research project.
The aim of the Bachelor's Thesis is to analyse the relationship between the success of Slovenian alpine skiers and the number of visitors at the FIS Ski World Cup Pokal Vitranc in Kranjska Gora. The timeframe of the research is from 1982 to 2017.
We collected the primary data with the interview and the secondary data with the literature search of the archives. All analyses have been done separately for giant slalom and slalom. We did not use other disciplines in our research because there are just slalom and giant slalom on Pokal Vitranc. Because there was no data for each year in our time frame, we used just data for years, where there were information about number of visitors for slalom and giant slalom.
We analysed our data and find out that number of visitors is decreasing over years. At the beginning there were around 20000 spectators at Pokal Vitranc, but in past few years there are barely 10000 skiing enthusiasts. We presented success of Slovenian slalomists and giant slalomists in our time frame, through points that they collected before Pokal Vitranc. We can clearly see that our slalomists were better than giant slalomists.
Results of our analyse about giant slalom proved our expectations, that there is a relationship between success and number of spectators. According to the giant slalom graph, the slalom one was not so smooth. We realized that this happened because Pokal Vitranc was, in some years, in december or january and in that years where there were deviations it was in march. Deviations could also be, because in that years there were many more skiers than in other years, competiting in FIS Ski World Cup.
