The master’s thesis initially discusses the less known field of book design and the use of the ombro analogue interactive technique in scientific literary illustration. In addition to discussing and exploring the aforementioned technique, it also touches upon an interactive literary project concerning a complete overview of extinct large mammals that lived in the cenozoic era.
The thesis proposes to better define the use of analogue interactive techniques for use in literary illustration and education. The purpose of the theoretical section of the thesis is a study of the ombro technique. The practical section of the thesis presents an encyclopaedic overview of the cenozoic megafauna in the form of a complete literary project with scientific and interactive illustrations. The book publication is an example of scientific illustration. It will contain analogue interactive illustrations in the ombro technique that offer mobile presentations of certain characteristics, activities, states and lives of these animals. The aim of the thesis is to produce a literary project containing 19 scientific illustrations produced using transfer printmaking techniques and pencil, supplemented by the results of a study of the analogue interactive ombro technique.
