Abstract
Relevantnost magistrskega dela se kaže predvsem v trenutnem duhu časa, v katerem so vidne spremembe v zaznavanju in pričakovanju do Evropske unije, njene vloge in prihodnosti.

Title:Supranational citizenship of the European Union?
Abstract:
In the past, it was often self-evident that the community represented the nation-state, and citizenship was inextricably linked to the nation-state. In the last years, the perception of citizenship has changed with the emergence of the phenomenon of globalization, multinational companies and supranational institutions; for our national political community, the supranational European Union, which has its own model of citizenship, is of utmost importance. The purpose of the master's thesis is to analyse the political theory of citizenship, cosmopolitanism, European idea and European citizenship, and thus to provide an insight into the theoretical structure of modern European citizenship. The relevance of the master's thesis is mainly reflected in the current zeitgeist, which shows visible changes in the perception and expectations of the European Union, its role and future. The European Union and its members have also faced many challenges; thus, many pressing questions about the future of European citizenship have emerged.
