The purpose of this thesis paper was to design a modern collection of multifunctional scarves that were inspired by Balloon Dog, a work of art by Jeff Koons. My task was to shed light on the usability and versatility of the scarf. For that purpose, I have created 5 multi-coloured scarves, made from waterproof materials. Each scarf comprises various elements, such as elastics, tightening strings, and press studs, that enable multifunctionality.
This thesis paper consists of a theoretical and an experimental part. In the theoretical part I will describe the source of my inspiration, present the history and use of the scarf as well as the topic of the scarf in modern fashion. In the experimental part I will present each scarf through text and images.
