Abstract
Klinični podatki, kot so pogostosti hipoglikemij, glikiran hemoglobin, inzulinska terapija, krvni tlak in maščobni profil krvi so bili zabeleženi z namenom primerjave in vplivom telesne dejavnosti.

Title:Effect of physical activity on metabolic control in type 1 diabetic patients
Abstract:
In this master’s thesis we researched differences in metabolic control and physical activity in type 1 diabetic patients. We divided physical activity into planned physical activity (PA) and non-exercise activity thermogenesis (NEAT). NEAT is energy expended in activities that are not planned such as house chores, transport to work, profession etc. Aim of this master’s thesis was to determine correlation of metabolic control and frequency of hypoglycemia with physical activity level in type 1 diabetic patients. A total of 109 subjects with type 1 diabetes (55 women and 54 men) average age of 38±10 years, average weight of 77,33±15,70 kg, HbA1c 7,03±0,89 were included in the study. Participants were asked to complete multiple PA questionnaires, including NEAT questionnaire, WHO physical activity questionnaire and hypoglycemia questionnaire (HQ). Clinical data such as frequency of hypoglycemia, insulin therapy, HbA1c, blood pressure and serum lipid profiles were also obtained to investigate the relationship with PA and NEAT score. Results showed no statistical significance between physical activity (moderate or vigorous activity) and HbA1c while NEAT score was positively correlated with HbA1c. There was regression model predicting frequency of hypoglycemia from NEAT score was borderline negatively significant. NEAT score and vigorous physical activity positively affected on systolic blood pressure, but not on diastolic blood pressure. NEAT score and vigorous physical activity also negatively affected level of LDL-C. Our data confirmed that higher amount of NEAT is associated with lower frequency of hypoglycemia, lower systolic blood pressure, lower LDL-C and higher HbA1c in type 1 diabetic patients.
