The thesis addresses the topic of furniture design for furnishing student dormitories. It is based on the concept of adapting to the space as well as the user. It focuses on the promotion of productivity, well-being and socialization, thus providing residents with a quality living, social and study environment.
The first part of the thesis presents the research and analytical phase, which consists of the theoretical aspect of furniture design, a study of various student dormitories and their furnishings, and both user and ergonomic analyses. It is followed by the conceptual phase, in which every step of the thesis, from the setting of design starting points to the establishment of the final concept, is presented. The last part displays and describes in detail individual pieces of furniture as well as possible scenarios for the use of the entire furniture system in different habitations.
