Abstract

Title:Designing efficient and user friendly shopping experience
Abstract:
This bachelor’s thesis aims to address the issues that occur during grocery shopping from the customer’s perspective. The entire process of shopping is taken into consideration - beginning with the decision to go to the store and ending with the transportation of purchased goods back home. The main goal is to enhance customer's shopping experience in a way that it becomes less stressful, less time-consuming and much easier. This is accomplished with two complementary solutions that are intended for various customer target groups, as a supplement of a chosen retailer’s business model. A smartphone app called FooDo is a digital solution for youngsters and families. It reorganises the user’s grocery shopping list into coloured zones and adapts to their shopping path. Furthermore, FooDo guides the user through the store with the all-new system of eight coloured zones, estimates the costs, enables sharing and editing of the shopping list in collaboration with other users. It also helps users decide among similar products and allows them to follow their monthly and annual expenses dispensed into basic grocery product categories. 3FooDo1 is an additional product intended for seniors. It consists of a sustainable shopping bag, a set of colourful post-it papers and a token for unlocking the shopping cart. 3FooDo1 simplifies the organization of their shopping list and assists orientation in the store. The 3 elements in 1 model prevents the customer from forgetting one of the crucial elements and at the same time raises sustainability awareness.
