The primary purpose of this thesis is to research the known facts on spotted wing drosophila, an invasive pest dangerous to vineyards. Its aims are also to find the solutions for the future management of this insect. The spotted wing drosophila (Drosophila suzukii (Matsumura)), which is native to south-east Asia, is invading fruit plants all across Europe. In 2010 it was recorded in Slovenia for the first time. The spotted wing drosophila is a prominent polyphagous pest that causes damage on various fruit plants and also in vineyards. It was found in all Slovenian regions. Unlike other drosophilades, it can deposit eggs in completely sound berries. It usually happens in mature berries or in those that are ripening.
