Recent mass migrations, that are characterised as a refugee crisis in public and political debate, became important problem of contemporary society within last years. Refugee crisis represents a profound challenge, both on level of states and on level of civil society, because of prevalent incomprehension of migrations and migrants, what can be explained by various factors of impact. To find out which different factors and in what way they function on understanding of refugee crisis in slovenian society, I performed twenty interviews with people who worked in acceptance centre for refugees and surveyed slovenian public. The results of the research indicated, that the main factors of impact on perception of opinions of slovenian society on refugee crisis, are contact with migrants and media representation of the phenomenon. The contact with migrants has positive impact on perception of people who worked with migrants, while negative influence of media representation is emphasised, in general understanding of the refugee crisis in public, in the analysis of the results. Therefore it is relevant to expose factors of diversity in perception of understanding refugee crisis and migrants in guest society, for attaining mutual intercultural dialogue between guest society and migrants, which leads to successful social integration.
