Abstract
Nezadostna odprtost z gozdnimi prometnicami, velike gostote divjadi in vožnja z motornimi kolesi so po mnenju anketiranih poglavitne ovire (slabosti) večnamenske rabe gozdov.

Title:The opinion about forest services in the Kobarid municipality
Abstract:
In Slovenia, a multi-objective forest management is applied. For this type of management, it is important to know which forest functions are important for inhabitants. Demands and expectations from people to the forest can be revealed with questionnaires. We interviewed 50 randomly selected inhabitants of Kobarid municipality (24 forest owners and 26 non-owners), to get their opinion about forest functions and multi-objective forest management in the area of Kobarid municipality. Due to the unrepresentative nature of the sample, the results can not be generalized to the whole population. For interviewed inhabitants, the most important functions are climate, wood production, protection and habitat protection function. The poorer management faces recreational function, while the best management is applied for production of wood. The interviewees agree that forest owners and field public forest service are crucial for providing forest functions. Three measures are, according to the interviewees, the most important to provide forest functions: monitoring the state and development of forests, cutting, silviculture and protection measures and marking trees for cutting. Poor forest road network, overabundant game and motorbike driving are by interviewees’ opinion the main weaknesses of multiple use of forests. Interviewees agree the most that the density of game is large enough and should not be increased, that the free access to the forest for the locals should remain and that visitors have the right to pick up forest fruits in the limit of the permitted amounts. Between interviewed forest owners and non-owners, we found significant differences only about the meaning of wood production and that the silviculture and protection services in forests should be obligation for owners. Most of interviewees have heard about forest management plans, less than a half have heard about forest function map.
