The purpose of the diploma is to present the role and work of a librarian-storyteller, who is working with preschool children. Children's department in a public library presents a foundation for supporting and encouraging reading habits in preschool period. For this reason librarians for children and young adults carry out diffrent biblio-pedagogical activities such as story hours and playtime with books. In the empirical part, we were observing behaviour of children when entering a room, the way librarians motivated children before activity, the cooperation among librarian and children during storytelling and connection of creative work with content of a fairy tale. For data collection a structured observation scheme was used. The observation lasted from December 2016 to April 2017 and includes seven story hours. The sample included 68 children and 2 librarians. The results showed that children perceive a fairytale room as a pleasant place. During all seven story hours librarians actively included children in communication process and the creative work was connected with the content of the fairy tale in all story hours.
