Handball is a sport, which, due to its dynamism and unpredictability, is very popular both in Slovenia and in Europe. Because of its dynamism, motoric abilities and anthropometric characteristics, which effect the player's performance in the game, are important in handball.
The goal of this diploma thesis was to measure the anthropometric characteristics and the motor skils of the players. The measurements were performed on the players of Handball Club Herz Šmartno. The testing was performed on 15 players from a men's handball team, with an average age of 22 years participated . The results were analyzed using the IBM SPSS21 software package (SPSS Inc., Chicago, Illinois, USA). Based on the collected data, we calculated the relationship between the results achieved in the season and the results achieved by the players on the tests. We have concluded, that the player's performance (achieving goals) is largely influenced by motor skills unlike anthropomorphic characteristics. In the case of motor skill tests on players, correlation with the achieved hits in the season was found in all tests, except for the test of heavy ball toss. A statistically significant correlation with the achieved goals in the season was observed only in one anthropometric test, proportion of fat in the player's body. The results of players on individual tests were compared according to the player's position in the attack formation. From the results we found that certain players have a very high level of motor skill. We also noticed that there are large differences between players in the test results, which is due to the fact that the team is not professional.
