Today many companies face the machining of increasingly complex workpieces. Positioning, clamping and machining of such workpieces is demanding and takes a lot of
time and money. If we want to shorten the time and thus the costs, it is necessary to consider many details already in the development of technological procedures. The master’s thesis presents the development problem of the entire technological process of machining four different workpieces that make up the cutting rotor of the wood shredder. The introductory part of the paper presents the problem background and the research objectives. The following chapter addresses the theoretical foundations that are the basis for understanding the problem. The next chapter describes all the steps in the production of the technological machining process. The actual machining of the workpieces in the CNC machine is shown and analysed. A comparison of the costs of external and our own machining is made according to the developed technological process. Based on the comparison, the justification of our own machining was established, as the cost of our own machining is 44.5 % lower than the external one. With machining of one series, we save 1.394 euros. The depreciation period of the clamping device was analysed, and it was found that we need to machine 36 workpieces to be able to recover the manufacturing costs. Finally, further cost saving options are presented regarding the machining of the workpieces in question.
