Abstract
Pregledali smo literaturo o preverjanju znanja in analizirali standarde znanja v učnem načrtu Družba, ki so temelj naše raziskave v empiričnem delu.

Title:Gifted fifth graders in the social science lessons
Abstract:
In the master's thesis, we explored the knowledge and attitude of talented pupils of the fifth grade at Geography. In the theoretical part, we defined and focused on the characteristics of talented pupils, learning motivation, the role of teachers and parents who have talented pupils in the classroom or in the family, and highlighted some of the difficulties talented pupils have to encounter. Since our topic relates to talented pupils at Geography, we have studied that as well and pointed up two authors, M. Umek and D. Lilek. We reviewed the literature on knowledge testing and analysed the learning standards in the curriculum for Geography, which are the basis of our research in the empirical part of the work. Using a knowledge test, we wanted to obtain data on the knowledge of Geography in the fifth grade in comparison to the learning standards at Geography in the ninth grade. We wanted to find out whether pupils of the fifth grade already meet the learning standards of Geography for the ninth grade. We were also interested in pupils' opinion about Geography and in how they acquire knowledge. The results we received were not as encouraging as we had expected. We found out that the pupils' orientation on the map of Slovenia is still developing. They are good at analysing the given data, but they still have difficulties with synthesis of the findings as well as evaluation. Otherwise, the majority of the talented pupils involved in the study find Geography interesting and like learning it, and they like to use some additional literature as well.
