This degree paper presents a topic that triggered Slovenian researchers from the field of pre-school education already in the 90-ies of the previous century and is still relevant today. Establishing and assuring quality in Slovenian kindergartens present an important element for quality execution of education and schooling of a pre-school child. This degree paper first explains the concept of quality, namely the meaning of the quality itself and quality indicators applicable to foreign as well as Slovenian kindergartens. In a short way also foreign quality models that serve as an example to Slovenian researchers trying to elaborate a Slovenian model are presented. In the theoretical part of the degree some words have been dedicated to quality evaluation, which can be regarded as a basis for establishing and assuring the quality. Slovenian model consists of three levels – structural, indirect and process levels. The latter has been tested in some Slovenian kindergartens. The research included sixty kindergarten teachers from four kindergartens in Slovenia. They were distributed a part of a questionnaire presented by A. Poljanšek, L. Marjanovič Umek, T. Kavčič, U. Fekonja and M. Batistič Zorec in a book entitled Quality in Kindergartens (»Kakovost v vrtcih«, 2002). The main objective of the degree paper was to establish the execution of the process level and its quality in Slovenian public kindergartens. It has been found out that kindergarten teachers dedicate a great deal of their attention to planning and execution of activities according to Curriculum for Kindergartens, while they do pay a little attention to routine, pastime and temporary activities. It has also been found out that all the respondents regularly perform self-evaluation which provides an indispensable basis for execution of quality work in Slovenian kindergartens.
