Abstract

Title:Value of force and speed in different tennis strokes
Abstract:
In Slovenia tennis has become one of the most popular recreational sports in the last twenty years. It's a dynamic game where players can choose a variety of strategies to win more matches. Nowadays, many technological devices can help us in effective planning and reaching goals. The purpose of the seminar is to to determine the correlation between the velocity of the wrist and the force occurring in the wrist during service, forhenda and bekend, and the highest velocity of the ball that was hit. We measured 8 tennis players, boys and girls. The measured players played diagonals and one of the players had the Armbeep measuring device on the wrist. Each player performed 60 forehand and 60 backhand, then 30 services from the right and 30 services from the left. To determine the differences between the velocity and forces during various strikes, we verified with a one-way variance analysis, and the difference between strikes was checked by the post hoc Tamhane test. To verify the relationship, we used the Pearson coefficient of correlation. Dependence between the variables was checked by regression analysis. The results showed that for various tennis strikes (forehand, backhand and serve) there are statistically significant differences in speed and force. In the speed analysis, we noticed that the highest speed was reached by the service. Forehand and backhand had similar outcome. Similar results also occurred with force, where the service reached the largest force, forehand and backhand were also similar. We proved the correlation between the velocity of the wrist during the impact and the velocity of the ball after the impact, we also proved the correlation between the force on the wristand the velocity of the ball after the impact.
