Abstract
Magistrsko delo je sestavljeno iz dveh delov. Prvi del je nastal s sodelovanjem pri umetniškem projektu s študentko na Akademiji za likovno umetnost in oblikovanje, v katerem je s pomočjo L-sistemov na posnetku simuliran življenjski cikel abstraktnih rastlin. L-sistemi so vrsta formalne slovnice, ki na tekstovnih nizih uporablja paralelno prepisovanje pravil. Pravila, katerih geometrijska interpretacija je izrisovanje ravnih črt, prepisujejo en tekstovni niz v drugega. Z ustreznim zaporedjem uporabe slovničnih pravil dobimo rezultat, ki s črtami izrisuje rastlini podobno obliko. V drugem delu magistrskega dela obravnavamo in simuliramo rast dejanske drevesne vrste. Simulacijo prav tako izrisujemo s pravili, ki smo jih dobili z analizo arhitekture in rasti drevesne vrste. Želimo si, da bi poznavalec drevesnih vrst v simulaciji prepoznal drevesno vrsto, ki jo izrisujemo. V nalogi definiramo pravila za simulacijo rasti jelke. Takšna simulacija veliko bolj realistično prikazuje razvoj drevesne vrste skozi daljše časovno obdobje in je zato uporabna za načrtovanje v krajinski arhitekturi in na drugih podobnih področjih, za katere je natančno izrisana rast drevesne vrste pomembna.

Title:Modeling and simulation of plant shape growth using L-Systems and architecture analysis
Abstract:
This thesis consists of two parts. The first part is an art project in which we collaborated with a student from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design. In the project we simulate the life cycle of abstract plants using L-Systems. L-Systems is a formal grammar structure which employs parallel transcription of grammar rules to transcribe one text string into another. The geometric interpretation of text strings is the drawing of straight lines. With the appropriate sequence of implemented grammar rules, we obtain a result that draws plant-like forms. In the second part of the thesis we simulate growth of the actual tree species. The simulation is drawn using an algorithm that we obtain through analysis of the architecture and growth of tree species. Our goal is that an expert would be able to recognize the tree species whose growth we are simulating. In the thesis we define the rules for the simulation of fir tree growth. Such a simulation shows a more realistic development of the tree species over a long period of time, and is therefore useful for landscape architecture design and planning, and similar applications in which the accurate projected growth of trees is relevant.
