Abstract

Title:
Comparison of permanent magnet DC motor speed control using PWM- and phase controller
Abstract:
Nowadays we can find electric motors in almost every appliance. Every electric motor also needs the appropriate controller, which controls the motor. There are many different controllers that depend on the type of the electric motor and of course also because of different applications of the motor. In some applications the motor has to operate at high angular speed and with relative low torque but in the other applications we can also use the same motor but the requirements of application can be completely different. My subject of Bachelor thesis is focused on comparison of two different types of controller for direct current permanent magnet electric motor. The first one is phase controler and the second one is chopper controler which is realized with pulse-width modulation. Result of my thesis is answer on the following question: “Which controller is better and why?”. As comparison tool for controllers I used mainly Excel software package. I’ve calculated and simulated different responses of the system in Excel software. As a system I used already existing Philips’s juicer. When the calculations and analysis were finished I also performed all the measurements on the real system and confirmed the accuracy of my calculations.
