In my master's thesis, I investigated the privatization of public companies in Slovenia and the privatization of public companies in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland. The purpose of the master's thesis was to present the concept of public services and the importance of privatization. In particular, I was interested in the privatization process in Slovenia and how the privatization took place in the Czech Republic, Poland and Slovakia. I studied the advantages and disadvantages of privatization and showed the economic effects of privatization in all four countries. In the master's thesis the descriptive method was used, with which I made a review of the literature related to the privatization of public enterprises. The concept of a public service is encountered daily, as public services provide us with public goods and services that are performed in the public interest. For the provision of public services, the state or the local community is responsible, as they operate in principle with such companies. The economic crisis has left behind the public sector, as was seen in the financing of public services. Due to the global economic crisis, most countries tried to restrict the economic role of financing public enterprises through privatization. Due to poor management of public enterprises, countries were forced to sell companies. The countries acquired fresh capital through privatization, which enabled them to finance other public services. By privatization, countries have thus achieved better economic effects, as private companies are better managed by companies. Privatization is a very broad concept and represents one of the most important issues in countries with a high level of ownership of public companies. Politics must choose the way and advantages that privatization brings in order to achieve the best possible economic effects that will have a positive impact on the state budget and the life of citizens.
