Abstract

Title:Creation and enhancement of 2D illustration with 3D elements
Abstract:
The purpose of this thesis is to create a digital illustration of Slavic goddess Vesna and improve it with the 3D elements that will allow interactivity and add depth to the illustration. The product will be used as part of a graphical user interface of the game, or as promotional material. In the thesis it is described used 3D technology to improve the illustration, as well as the development of the digital painting and its advantages. The whole process of making illustrations, from concept to the final interactive version, is included as well. To achieve the final result, we used a combination of Adobe Photoshop CS6 and the Unreal Engine. The thesis is divided into theoretical and practical part. In the theoretical part are defined: basic concepts digital illustration, its development and integration of 3D elements. 3D technology that was used is described, as well as the hardware and software required to produce the final product. In the practical part it is presented and documented the entire process, including the usage of programs. The process includes: gathering references, coming up with concept of the character, doing composition studies, painting illustration, separating different layers exporting layers and importing them in the Unreal Engine, adding visual effects and programming. Making this project was a challenge, because there is not much of documentation in this field of study, that is why it was required to work mainly through trial and error. Besides that is the usage of Unreal Engine for this purposes quite new in the field of digital illustration.
