Within the master's thesis, we have developed a system that controls the state of the battery pack and prevents the operation of batteries beyond their nominal values. It is implemented with a dedicated integrated circuit LTC6811, which provide conversion of analogue values into digital words and access to converted data with microcontroller via serial communication interface. The PIC microcontroller is used from Microchip. A balancing circuit is added to the system, which ensures that all batteries within the battery pack are evenly charged. Up to 24 batteries can be connected to the system. The battery control is performed during charging and discharging state, with taking into account the applicable limit values of each condition. In case of an error, the battery management system can intervene in the operation of the external system at any time with its charge and discharge control circuit and prevent operation of the batteries outside of it's nominal values.
