In this thesis we discussed the characteristics of centrifugal water pumps of the testbed FM21 and we upgraded the measuring equipment and data aquisition system. We observed and described the centrifugal pumps testbed and used it for measurements. We measured the pressure drop through the orifice, pressure rise through both pumps, rotational speed of pumps, electrical power of pumps and the temperature of water. From the results of the measurements the program calculated the total head, the volume flow, the efficiency of pumps and other relevant quantities. Using these quantities we were able to design characteristic diagrams of pumps. The characteristics diagrams use total head versus flow rate. We studied the operation of the centrifugal pumps testbed sensors and signals. Using the information, we designed a new program in LabVIEW environment. The program uses a measuring card to capture the signals and custom measuring scales to transform the captured signals correctly into physical quantities. We compared the results of measurements done with factory software and results of our measurements captured designed in LabVIEW environment.
