Naslov:Analysis of the primary education schools in nature that include swimming activities
Izvleček:
The school in nature is an organizational form that every primary school in Slovenia has to organize once in students' obligatory schooling. The curriculum for physical education recommends organization of the school in nature that primarily include swimming activities. The existing databases include only some statistical data of the ministry responsible for education related to different outdoor schools’ programmes, therefore we have decided to collect information on the schools and outdoor activities that include swimming activates by reviewing the websites of the Slovene primary schools in school year 2016/2017. In accordance with the school legislation, all schools have to inform parents about their activities and nowadays websites are the most frequently used medium where schools can present their programmes in various interesting ways. The sample of the survey included all (n=452) Slovenian central primary schools. We have only analysed in detail the schools that have had the outdoor activities, which included swimming and their data were published on their websites. We were interested in the size of the schools (number of pupils), the place and month the school in nature with swimming activities took place, their duration, the grade of students attended the schools in nature, the type of the stay and the location of the data acquisition (source and kind of the published information). The schools were compared by size and presented separately by statistical regions. To process and interpret data Microsoft Excel 2013 and IBM SPSS Statistics 17 were used. The X2test was used for statistical analysis. We found that in school year 2016/2017 333 schools organize school in nature that included swimming activities. As some schools organized more than one programme in the same year, 352 school in nature was analysed. Most often, schools organized five-day school in nature that included swimming activities, school in nature took place in June and involved pupils of the 5th grade. Most of the schools in nature were organized at the Slovene seaside and the city Ankaran was prevailed. The percentage of the organized schools in nature with swimming activities, grades and countries where they took place vary according to the size of primary schools. When comparing statistical regions, statistically significant differences occur in all analysed parameters. With a more detailed analysis of schools in nature that included swimming activites, the master's thesis is an indicator of how many schools in nature include swimming activities, how much they adhere to the recommendations of curriculum for their organization and implementation and where there are still opportunities for changes and improvements. At the same time, it is noticeable to what extent schools use their websites to present or announce outdoor activities that offer the programme of swimming.
