Government of the Republic of Slovenia responded to economic crisis diversely and accepted many measures in order to ensure the durability of public finance.
The master`s degree is divided into two parts. In former we present the theoretical concept of economic crisis, it`s effects in Slovenia and her government austerity measures. In correlation with it we discuss motivation and motivational theories, factors in local self-governing system and municipalities. Latterly we take a look at their financial and legal status. In the latter part we focus on empirically verifiable facts which are in detail introduced in a public opinion survey of how austerity masures influence on emloyees motivation in Podravje municipalities. Findings show that the employees, despite the austeriy measures, preserved their motivation. The most important motivational elements turned out to be permanence and safety of employment, next to good relations with co-workers.
