The thesis focuses on the impacts of countryside urbanisation process, which has caused various social, economic, spatial, physiognomic and functional changes. The first part deals with the urbanisation process trends, the quality of life in the countryside and the people's identity. The empirical part presents the results supported by graphic presentation, based on a conducted survey. The railroad and highway construction in the vicinity of Zabrdje has considerably influenced people's way of life, their identity and rural landscape. The newly built infrastructure created new jobs and presented opportunity for new workplaces, however also consequent agricultural decline. Different values and standards have also induced structural changes in the village of Zabrdje. In conclusion, the perception of Zabrdje residents towards the urban way of life is presented. In addition, the suggestions to revive economic and non-economic activities to further develop the area are proposed.
