Graduation thesis deals with the process of tunnel modeling with the use of BIM tools and shows the development of libraries and families for tunnels for Revit software environment.
In the first part of the thesis the process of design and construction of tunnels is presented, various tunnel construction methods and typical structure of road tunnels are described with an emphasis on the new Austrian method (NATM). The tunnel design process is broken down into individual phases, while the level of development of all individual tunnel elements in each stage is handled in more detail.
In the second part of the thesis the design using BIM tools and advantages of BIM technology are presented. The problems and particularities that we meet in the process of
tunnel modelling are indicated. In the thesis, the methodology of libraries for building information modeling tools and families creation with their use in tunnel modelling is shown. The practical case of making a BIM model is shown by modeling the existing motorway tunnel Leščevje. Special attention was paid to the modeling of all the essential component elements and their integration in the model.
In the concluding part, the possibilities of the use of point cloud in the design or construction stage of the tunnel are presented. In conclusion, the emphasis is also on the opportunities offered by the use of BIM model of a tunnel.
