We analyzed basketball shot location and type of execution for ten Slovenian Division 1 games and eleven Euroleague games in the 2012/13 season (a total of 2567 shots). Results show that the differences between the two competitions are small. The main differences are that Euroleague Centers and Power forwards use the jump shot less frequently, when in transition, Euroleague players use three point shots more frequently and mid-range shots less, and three point shots are on average shot from wider angles or corners. Larger differences are observed between different player positions, both in shot location and type of execution.
