The research deals withan applicability of the data acquisition and on-line handling software for monitoring the slabs reheating in the pusher type furnace. The development of the software is based on the measurements of twenty process parameters of the pusher type furnace and five temperatures in the test slab obtained by the data acquisition system. By the use of these data test physical quantities approximating real performance conditions are simulated. The simulated performance conditions are transferred over the RS-232 interface to another PC computer, which calculates on-line the chemical heat of fuel, temperature distribution in the slabs, heat accumulated in the slabs and from those items the instantaneous efficiency of chemical heat of fuel
