Abstract

Title:Does a snake have a break? A conceptual basis of the check-Slovene interlingual interference
Abstract:
Making use of a theoretical background in cognitive linguistics, the author of the article analyses written work done by students of Slovene at Masaryk University in Brno, the Czech Republic. A hypothesis is made that the language mistakes by the native speakers of the Czech language in written Slovene texts are not merely a consequence of a negative transfer of their mother tongue to Slovene, but that they are also influenced by the categorisation and conventional representation of the Czech language.
