Abstract
POVZETEK: Dusikov oksid, kot kljuèni prenasalec v stevilnih fizioloskih in patofizioloskih procesih, izraza veèino bioloskih uèinkov preko aktivacije topne gvanilat ciklaze. Pri posameznih obolenjih je terapevtsko ugodno bodisi poveèanje njegove koncentracije, ali pa zaviranje njegove prekomerne tvorbe. Poleg organskih nitratov, ki so v terapiji ze vrsto let, preizkusajo nove NO-donorje z drugaènim mehanizmom sprosèanja in uèinki tudi na druge tarène efektorske sisteme in tkiva.

Title:Nitric oxide II: biological activity and compounds that dissociate NO
Abstract:
ABSTRACT: Nitric oxide, as a key mediator in many physiological and pathophysiological processes, expresses most of its biological effects by activation of soluble guanylyl cyclase. In some illnesses it is therapeutically desirable to increase its concentration, in others to inhibit its excessive formation. Appart from organic nitrates that have been used in therapy for several years, new NO donors with different mechanisms of dissociation and selective effects in other target effector systems and tissues have more recently been tested.
