Using the methodolgy of linguistic geography (i.e., linguistic phonetic/morphological maps), and with the aid of dialectological literature and the material collected for the Slovenian Linguistic Atlas (Slovenski lingvistični atlas - SLA), this paper presents *-o reflexes and the geographical spread of the masculinisation and feminisation of neuter in Slovenian dialects, with an emphasis on the impact of phonetic changes. The paper draws a comparison with Ramovš's earlier synthesis of these phenomena, and provides a more comprehensive explanation of feminisation in several northeastern Slovenian dialects.
