A division of Slovenia into 14 forest management regions is given showing its development from originally 17 to the present 14 regions. Nearly 90% of forestmanagement regions borders are based on borders of municipalities and cadastral communities. The comparison of this division with a map of differentnames to denote forest in different Slovene dialects shows some similarities. The comparison with regionalizations of Slovenia proposed by Vri{er (1990) and Plut (1999) shows roughly the same division, with most of the changes to be found in regions of eastern Pohorje, Konji{ka gora, spodnje Posavje, Zasavje, Žiri and mostly on a region around Ilirska Bistrica. The differences in divisions are no doubt based on their historic development and different needs. However the division of Slovenia on forest management regionscan be regarded as an interesting background for further regionalizations of Slovenia.
