Communication with public regarding the risks is more effective if taking place in the context of trust. The consequences of distrust of expert risk estimation are clearly seen in the unsuccessful efforts for locating refuse dumps for lowly and highly radioactive waste. The recent trends in estimating new technologies broaden the criteria in order to take into account social values which influence public opinion regarding the technologies. In Western countries, a variety of democratic communicative forms to achieve public consensus regarding the risk technologies, is considered. Slovenia is in this context far behind.
