Main goal of European Social Survey (ESS) to accelerate development of European comparative social sciences. Its purpose is a systematic study of attitudes, characteristics and behaviour of European citizens, in connection with economic, social and political life. The European Social Survey (ESS) is an academically-driven multi-country survey covering over 20 nations. Survey is divided in several sections. Its core includes standard questions for observing changes in attitudes. Emphasiss is on medium-term and long-term transformations. This part include questions about main social sistems (economy, welfare, education, health service and health care, etc.), political participation, values, quality of life etc. The next part include socio-demographic profile, consisting of objectives, demographic indicators and of Schwarz basic human values scale for individual values types and cross-cultural classification. This part include explanatory variables and is very extensive in comparison with other similar project. With the help of this we can build models explaining social trends and differences in attitudes between groups. The questionnaire also include rotating modul with 30-60 indicators for more intensice nad systematic anaylsis of: Relation towards immigrants, Economic morality in Europe, Health care and questions about Family work and Wellbeing and Work-life balance.
