This survey focuses on the influence of modern information technologies on young people. Young scholars from Ljubljana and its surroundings were included in the sample. The crossing form industrial society to service society altered the position and meaning of youth. New type of youth emphasizes education and self-formation of young individual, where his active role for decision making between mass of informations and choices has great importance. Personal computers and internet are gaining their role as important socializers (Tapscott, 1997). The use of new media unleashes different opinions about its positive and negative influences on personal and social development of young people: from understanding information technologies as a mean of youth liberation that enables the escape from adult control, to understanding it in connection with stimulation of epileptic attacks, internet addiction, stimulation of antisocial behavior etc. The survey can not evade the definition of information-counselling service, that in the information age assists young people in their search of relevant information, choices and suitable use of information-communication technologies.
