Insurance as a complexity of economic subjects dealing in insurance as an economic activity is increasingly becoming an important mechanism for attaining individual security in modern society. Slovene society is no exception. However, the time dimension and the changed social conditions are exceptional and due to these a major part of the care for social and economic security shall be transferred from the state to the individual (gradual transfer). The legislature in the field of pension, disability and health insurance triggered a different concept of the phenomenon of individual security in Slovene society. The gradual and partial withdrawal of the state from this field, which means also a voluntary loss of monopoly, presents new opportunities for commercial and other insurance companies. The performed study undoubtedly showed that the respondents were prepared to invest more of their income for health and safety than before, even though these reforms werea novelty.
