Abstract
Sistem Velikih jezer sestavljajo Gornje, Michigansko, Huronsko, Eriejsko in Ontarijsko jezero.

Title:Influence of Natural Geographic Characteristics on Settlement and Economic Development in the Great Lakes Region
Abstract:
The Great Lakes system consists of Lake Superior, Lake Michigan, Lake Huron, Lake Erie, and Lake Ontario. They are located in the northeastern part of North America, covering 151,400 km² of the United States and 92,800 km² of Canada's surface area. The Great Lakes are the largest system of freshwater lakes in the world by surface area. They have a significant impact on the climate, ecosystem, and economy of the surrounding regions, including effects on agriculture, fishing, tourism, and industry. This thesis deals with the analysis of the interplay between physical geographical factors and their impact on settlement and economic development, as the physical geographical characteristics of a given area play a crucial role in shaping settlement patterns and the economic development of a particular region.
