Temperature glove
Cilj diplomske naloge je bil izdelati sistem za merjenje temperature konic prstov, s katerimi bi lahko merili psihofizični odziv opazovane osebe. V ta namen smo uporabili vezje, ki je osnovano na sistemu Arduino. Za izvedbo merjenja so bile potrebne tudi druge komponente, ki smo jih ustrezno izbrali in sestavili v celoten sklop merilnega sistema. Sistem sestavljajo senzorji temperature, mikrokrmilnik, zapisovalec podatkov in napajanje.
Napajanje je bilo izvedeno s pomočjo 9 V baterije in prilagoditvenega vezja, ki je poskrbelo za primerno napajalno napetost, saj Arduino deluje na območju od 2,7 V do 5,5 V. S pomočjo OneWire protokola Arduino meri vrednosti temperature in jih sproti zapisuje na pomnilniško kartico preko OpenLog zapisovalnika. Program se zažene vsakič, ko vezje dobi napajalno napetost in začne samodejno zapisovati na spominsko kartico. Pravilno zapisovanje signalizira modra LED dioda, ki utripa vsakič, ko OpenLog prejme vrednosti za zapis.
Ugotovili smo, da je zelo pomembno, katere senzorje izberemo za merjenje temperature kože. Najprej smo uporabili senzor z ločljivostjo 0,5 °C, kar je bilo pri za naš namen neuporabno. Nihanja temperature kože zaradi psihološkega stresa ni bilo moč zaznati, zato smo uporabili drug, boljši senzor, ki je deloval po istem protokolu in imel ločljivost 0,0625°C.
V zadnjem delu je predstavljen končni izdelek, rezultati meritev, odziv temperature prstov na stres, merjen z različnimi metodami vzbujanja, in možnosti uporabe naprave v različnih aplikacijah.
The purpose of the thesis was to develop a system for detecting fingertip temperature to measure psychophysical response of the observed person. To do so, we used an Arduino-based circuit. Some other necessary components were also carefully selected and put together to form a comprehensive system, i.e. temperature sensors, a microcontroller, a data logger and power supply.
A 9 V battery supplied power, while a signal conditioning circuit regulated the supply voltage because Arduino functions in the range between 2.7 V and 5.5 V. Using the OneWire protocol, Arduino measures temperature and records the values simultaneously on a memory card via the OpenLog data logger. The program runs whenever the circuit receives supply voltage and starts logging data to the memory card. A blue LED signalises that logging is correct by flashing every time OpenLog receives the values to be logged.
Our findings suggest that it is extremely important to select appropriate sensors for measuring skin temperature. The resolution of the first sensor was 0.5 °C, which was useless for our purpose because it failed to detect stress-related temperature fluctuations. To this end, we used a better sensor which was based on the same protocol, but had a resolution of 0.0625 °C.
The last part of the thesis presents the final product, measurement results and the response of fingertip temperature to stress which was measured through various methods of stimulation. It also proposes possible uses in different applications.
