Akademsko šolanje umetnikov in njihova reprezentacija v devetnajstem stoletju
V likovni umetnosti zaznamujejo prehod v umetnost modernizma številni spremljajoči družbeni pojavi, kot je sprememba statusa umetnika, sprememba sistema šolanja, sistema razstavljanja in prodaje, sprememba vloge kupca, razvoj likovne kritike in sistema galerijske prodaje del. Vsi ti procesi so vplivali tudi na razvoj likovnih slogov in formiranje drugačnega odnosa do likovne prakse. Članek predstavlja sisteme šolanja in reprezentacije, ki so bili v veljavi od renesanse naprej, ter vlogo marginaliziranih skupin, kot so tujci, ženske in neakademiki pri spreminjanju uveljavljenega sistema. Diskrimatorni principi francoskega akademskega šolanja in kasnejšega uveljavljanja umetnikov so povzročili številne razkole in omogočili razvoj novih oblik šolanja in reprezentacije. Obenem pa lahko sledimo številnim prizadevanjem francoske akademije, da bi se prilagodila novim razmeram in omogočila čimbolj pravičen sistem šolanja in reprezentacije. Slovenski umetniki, Ivana Kobilca, Jurij Šubic in Jožef Petkovšek, so v času teh sprememb občasno živeli v Parizu, kjer so se izobraževali in skušali uspeti v svetovnem centru umetnosti.
The passage to modernism in the field of visual arts is marked by numerous events in society like the change of status of the artist, change in educational system, new system of exhibition politics, different role of the art customer, the development of art criticism and art market in private galleries. All these processes influenced the development of the art styles and formation of different attitude towards artistic practice. The article represents systems of education and representation which were in use from renaissance, and the role of marginalised groups like foreigners, women, non academics, by changing of the established system. Discriminatory principles ofFrench academic educational system and representations of artists caused many schisms and enabled development of new forms of education and representation. At the same time we can follow numerous endeavours of French academy to adapt to new circumstances and enable the most just system of education and representation. Slovene artists Ivana Kobilca, Jurij Šubic and Jožef Petkovšek were temporally living in Paris during those changes and were trying, like so many others, to get some education and to succeed in the centre of art.
