20.500.12556/RUL-179564 Timely justice as a determinant of economic growth We investigate how timeliness in enforcing legal contracts affects economic growth across countries. We focus on judicial timeliness as a proxy for courts’ performance in a large panel of 169 countries over the 2004–2019 period. We show that, by raising uncertainty and promoting opportunistic behaviors in business transactions, slower courts hinder economic development. The relationship is robust to diverse model specifications and appears stronger for business environments more heavily relying on judiciaries such as economies undergoing rapid growth, countries characterized by low human capital and civil law jurisdictions. economic growth legislation institutions judicial timeliness ekonomska rast zakonodaja institucije true false false Angleški jezik Slovenski jezik Članek v reviji 2026-02-17 11:10:18 2026-02-17 11:12:48 2026-02-18 04:22:27 0000-00-00 00:00:00 2025 0 0 16 str. article no. ǂ107235 Vol. 238 Oct. 2025 0000-00-00 Zaloznikova Objavljeno NiDoloceno 0000-00-00 0000-00-00 0000-00-00 330.3 0167-2681 10.1016/j.jebo.2025.107235 249695491 1-s2.0-S0167268125003543-main.pdf 1-s2.0-S0167268125003543-main.pdf 1 D992825AEE2504102E01371F8C80596A 40ce819bc4585ebe3826526c5439290e5d60821157819f2504c222422718c32d e0db3af8-0be8-11f1-a1ba-0050569b8976 https://repozitorij.uni-lj.si/Dokument.php?lang=slv&id=228182 https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0167268125003543#coi1 0 d9bc9180-0be8-11f1-a1ba-0050569b8976 https://repozitorij.uni-lj.si/Dokument.php?lang=slv&id=228181 Ekonomska fakulteta 0 0 0
